Tempering or disabling tag signature check via the 3rd party X1Plus Firmware

I just learned about the new open source custom X1Plus Firmware.

Has anyone explored if it would be theoretically possible via this open source 3rd party firmware to disable the check of the digital signature altogether or replacing the public key the signature is checked against?

The Readme (under next steps) lists custom AMS firmware to ignore a false signature. I wouldn't espect the AMS to forward invalid tag infos to the printer for a second check. Does the X1Plus Firmware also do AMS firmware?
