Current basis function construction normalizes by total provided mass which should be taken into account when comparing basis for objects with different masses.

Good point. I think that the idea is:

• The basis functions themselves should be unit normalized. So if one is building from particles, the basis itself is independent of the mass or number of particles, but only depends on the shape of the mass density profile.
• The coefficients will depend on mass, of course, since they are accumulated from the evaluation of the potential part of the basis and multiplied by mass.

If I've missed the gist of your comment, can you explain some more?

Sorry this comment was a bit spare coming out of a conversation with Nico -- but I think the reason I wasn't seeing a trend in the power l=0 component with increasing halo mass was due to this normalization.

But I'm still not following your argument. Are you saying that the basis should be normalized to the mass of the halo that generated the basis? I would say that we need a unit normalized basis to compute the coefficients as true power or to compute the true gravitational potential or density.

Is it possible that you are not supplying the correct particle mass values to the coefficient accumulation step?
