Description:
Hello Jide Team,
I would like to respectfully request that you reconsider reviving Remix OS for PC, the innovative Android-based desktop operating system that once redefined mobile–desktop convergence. Many users, including developers and tech enthusiasts, still see enormous potential in this concept — especially with today’s powerful hardware and evolving Android ecosystem.
Proposed Features for a Modern Remix OS:
Base OS: Android 16 (latest AOSP release)
Hardware Support:
Latest Intel and AMD CPUs Support
NVIDIA / AMD /Snapdragon / MediaTek /Broadcom GPUs with Vulkan, OpenGL, and HDR, FSR, DLSS API's and Drivers
And latest Wine support
Wayland display server support for smoother graphics drivers
Full Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 7, and Touchscreen compatibility Support QR Scans
User Interface:
Modern Material You (Material 3 Expressive) design
for both desktop and tablet modes
Developer & App Support:
Option to bypass new Android security frameworks for sideloading and testing custom APKs
Integration with ADB tools and developer-friendly boot modes
Rationale:
Remix OS pioneered the Android PC desktop experience long before ChromeOS and other hybrid systems became mainstream. With renewed focus, it could once again fill a valuable niche — especially for developers, educators, and users seeking a lightweight, touch-friendly, and customizable desktop OS built on Android.
Community Impact:
Encourages open innovation in the Android desktop space
Revives a nostalgic yet practical project with modern potential
Expands options for older and newer devices alike
Closing Note:
I truly admire the vision behind Remix OS. It inspired many in the open-source and Android enthusiast community. I hope Jide or another development team might revisit this project for the modern era and bring Remix OS back stronger than ever.
Thank you for your time and consideration. 🙏
