Dependency question - manual building

Hi,
Why does the shell needs "quickshell-git this has to be the git version, not the latest tagged version" not the tagged one for build?
Example if I have last quickshell 0.2.1 on my system available and wanna build https://github.com/caelestia-dots/shell/releases/tag/v1.3.2 for it im getting errors. Is it not back compatible?

Quickshell recently had a new release, so the shell should work with that (0.2.1). Previously, the shell depended on some features only in the git version of Quickshell, which is why it depends on it.

I'm trying to build last release:
https://github.com/caelestia-dots/shell/releases/download/v1.3.2/caelestia-shell-v1.3.2.tar.gz
cmake -B build -G Ninja -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/
and I'm getting:
fatal: not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:11 (message): VERSION is not set and failed to get from git -- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!
why the tar doesn't have .git ?

The releases don't need to be git repos as their versions are static (it's just the release version)

Use -DVERSION=<version> when building releases (add this to the end of the first cmake line and replace <version> with the release version)

so I guess it still needs git master version? When I compiled quickshell from git and your caelestia-shell 1.3.2 it works fine.
