Performance problems on safari (Macbook, iphone) when reinitialize masonry

Hi,
i added a filter to my masonry. After filtering elements (hide / display:none) i want to reinitialize my masonry:
$mymasonry.masonry('layout');
This works perfect in Chrome and Firefox, but in Safari Browser it's extreme slow. How can i fix this or is this a known problem?
