Kubelogin not found

Describe the bug

I am trying to use Freelens with an AKS cluster. However, the connection attempt always fails due to a missing kubelogin binary.

kubelogin is installed on the host machine, and connecting to the cluster using tools like kubectl works fine. When I specify the absolute path to the kubelogin plugin in my kubeconfig, the error about the missing binary disappears, but then the Azure CLI cannot be found.

It seems that the environment PATH variables are not being handled or propagated correctly, causing these conflicts.

Freelens doesn't have a dedicated PATH. Did you miss it in the system settings? Ie. I use it with "aws" command and all if fine as far as I installed it and rebooted Windows after Amazon.AWSCLI package has been installed. Did you reboot your computer?

I’ve just restarted the system, but the issue still persists.
I also tried manually configuring the path to the kubectl binary and placed the kubelogin executable directly next to the kubectl.exe, but unfortunately, I’m still getting the same error.

I have the same problem. Since I don't have admin rights on this machine, I used scoop.sh to install kubectl and AWS CLI, and I get the error:

E0930 17:14:23.058077 772 proxy_server.go:147] Error while proxying request: getting credentials: exec: executable aws not found

It looks like you are trying to use a client-go credential plugin that is not installed.

Ive fixed it by updating my kubeconfig

Where you see

command: kubelogin

Replace with

command: c:\<your-absolute-path>\kubelogin.exe

or linux equivalent and then it works.
