How can I set if an item is in use and be able to filter using it?

I tested Homebox demo and could not find how to do this. I want to be able to create an item (e.g USB cable) that has a specified location (e.g storage box). When someone takes it from the box, I want to be able to set the item to "in use" without changing the location. So, then the item is not needed anymore, I can filter by the item name and set the "in use" property to false. I also want to be able to filter by items that are in use. Is there a way to achieve this in Homebox?
