Right now, setting up the unlock flow for dealers (recommendation) isn’t very straightforward. You have to set the unlock type and also need to manually call Customer.RecommendDealer. Also, this only works with modded NPCs the API doesn’t allow editing in-game NPCs directly.

Should be able to use customer events for this on your end. So yes while the API can add convenience methods, you absolutely can do this with base game NPCs already. You would use NPC.Get to grab the NPC, then grab their customer with yourNPC.Customer and from there you can use the events, like onDealCompleted. This is how it can currently be done, but again yes there could be a more convenient way.
