Local Media Cover Art Not Matching

The app correctly identifies the Artist, Album, and Track from the media player. The lyrics found online are correct. However, no local cover art is found and the secondary 'Itunes' source uses an incorrect album cover. Correct artist, in this case AC/DC but incorrect album, in this case it uses Back In Black instead of T.N.T.

This is not the only instance of this happening. Other Artists / Albums / Songs have this issue. I'd say 1 in 10 have an issue.

If its not going to be fixed, would at least be good to know why is happening. The media player correctly hands off the the artist, album, and song name to Better Lyrics, which is pulled directly from the local files it is playing which has the exact same tag name and the files are named the same. Seems to be a perfect feedback loop, so unsure where the issue is, why some work and some don't...

I have no idea why it is not matching. On my side, it works well. For a better experience, you could try any other local player and use BetterLyrics only as a lyrics plugin.

That's never going to happen. I been using Jriver Media Center for 25 years with thousands of hours poured into customizing it. Seems like it wouldn't matter about the player though since it is correctly matching the lyrics (i.e. it's reporting the Artist/Album/Song correctly) so if there was a systemic problem on the player side, then you'd see that with the lyrics not just the cover art. At that point, once the player pass the correct Artist/Album/Song info, it's all on the Better Lyrics app to match.

If JRiver Media Center passes album art metadata to the system, there is no need for local searching or matching; it can be read directly.

Good to know. Something is up then. I just checked this again and if I disable the itunes matching, which I have as the secondary matching after the primary 'local music files' matching above it, then on certain albums, Better Lyrics finds nothing, i.e. no cover art is shown at all. If I enable the iTunes matching, often times it has the correct artist, but the album is sometimes still wrong. Odd. I've run the local media scanning several times, and the albums are listed. I'm going to do some more testing tonight when I have more time. Thanks for the responses!

Did you enable ’Music player‘?

I'm not sure what that means exactly. I don't see any options for 'music player'. I've taken some screenshots of the options I have set in case that helps.

One example of mismatched cover art would be Eric Clapton's Cream of Clapton album. Better Lyrics correctly finds the lyrics, but uses the cover art for a different Eric Clapton album (Crossroads 2). Since both albums were correctly scanned in Better Lyrics Media Library, it seems that it should be able to identify the correct album art to use.

Another example is AC/DC. It appears this is a different issue though. In this case, no local album cover art is found at all (and itunes misidentifies is as well). It appears that Better Lyrics has read the Artist tag as 'AC;DC' instead of AC/DC. I can confirm that the tag is in fact AC/DC so I am unsure why it is showing at AC;DC.

Here are a couple other examples. In these cases, while the Media Library does in fact include a version of the song with the correct Album Art, there are alternative songs with the same name but different album.

To clarify on the example above, it looks like Better Lyrics is ignoring the Album tag and just finding the first reference to the Artist/Song instead of matching Artist/Album/Song. So it's pulling the cover art from a different album with the same Artist/Song tag.

That's in addition to the other issues I identified with incorrect reading of the tags (Ex AC;DC, instead of AC/DC).

hmmm. I just checked the code again, and it indeed only matches the song and the artist. I'll try to get it fixed, and later I'll send you a test version link so that you can test if it gets fixed successfully. Thanks for your valuable insight.
