Noticed while double checking Wilkins and Chazan's Kathu Pan 1 paper, that the wording of the lateral trimming text requires mention in text for inclusion. However, if a core is rectilinear, and if the authors report centripetal preparation as the method of shaping the face, that means there are situations where they might say centripetal preparation is present, there are illustrations consistent with both lateral trimming and distal trimming on the face of rectilinear cores, but one reading of the relevant codebook entries will require coding both lateral trimming and centripetal flaking as absent. For now I'm interpreting lateral trimming as present in situations where centripetal prep is reported in the text on a rectilinear core face.
