Proposal to Allow Translation Time Before Final Release

I’d like to propose a change to the release workflow to better accommodate the translation process.

Currently, new content is pushed to Transifex during/after the release process has already started/finished. As a result, any strings added (late) in the cycle remain untranslated until the next release.

Could you consider adjusting the schedule to allow a few extra days between finalizing content and the official release (string freeze)? This would give translators a chance to complete their work and ensure updated translations when the release goes live.

We push strings on every pull request merge automatically. Are you not seeing the updates?

Yes, I see those updates. In a matter of hours (time zones etc.) I translate the new content. Still I have untranslated strings in release. That's for every release since I keep the project 100% translated.

For instance, this release have few of the tooltips in the main menu stuck not translated.

I've pulled the current translations for the develop branch in #12611. Could you test a snapshot build once that is merged? I have a feeling that something is off in general, because this is not the first report about missing translations. We pull them before every release and most of those strings shouldn't be last-minute additions.

I think the tooltips were specifically a bug that we have fixed for 2.7.11 and 2.8.0. Otherwise yah, very few translations should be "last minute" if any.

We should probably pull at least the develop strings every now and then. Otherwise they will never be pulled at all, because we don't build releases directly from there.

@phoerious, I tested with 269998 and all strings are in place. I'm probably wrong about the strings not being exposed to translators early enough.
