[MainUI] Loading /settings/items/ shows only one item; `Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The operation is insecure.`

When I load over HTTPS directly /settings/items/, it shows one item, alphabetically the first one of all items.

When I click somewhere else, then go back to Settings → Items then all items are shown.

It might be unrelated, but the browser console contains Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The operation is insecure.:

This was happening for long time with various openHAB versions, including oh 5.1.0 build 4925.

This has nothing to do with HTTPS, using plain HTTP shows the number of items, but only one item. Yes, the Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The operation is insecure. message is gone.

I don't know what is happening in your case, but I can say I don't see this behaviour on my side, both through an https and http connection, tested on my production system (OH 5.0.2) and a recent snapshot I use for development. I tested with Firefox, no other tabs open.

This happens in Firefox 145 and Chromium 142.0.7444.162 , when the page /settings/items/ is already loaded (with one or all items) and I press F5 to reload it. When I click on the blue “⟳ REFRESH ” all items are loaded.

Just tried on Firefox 140.5.0esr and F5 works for me. There are 1115 items in my list.

The described by me behavior is for openHAB 5.1.0 build 4925 and openHAB 5.0.2. When I press several times in a row F5 sometimes all items are shown, sometimes one item is shown. Caching is enabled. (That is I do not have the Developer console open and I have not selected in it Disable caching.) Eventually on 5.1 on the left the selection focuses “Model”, while keeping https://192.168.0.11:8443/settings/items/ in the address bar, and pressing “Items” does not do anything.

With 5.0.2 I still see in the browser console “Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The operation is insecure.” when loading over HTTPS ⇔ port 8443. Even when loading over HTTP, after pressing several times F5 sometimes all items are shown and sometimes the amount of all items is shown correctly, but only the first item is displayed.

I can neither reproduce this with a current snapshot UI build nor with the demo server (https://demo.openhab.org/settings/items/), both over HTTPS.

You can try to reproduce it with the dev server to get a usable trace, without that we won't be able to look into the issue.
