Failure to restore settings on v3.0.0 (T-Lora v2.1/1.6.1 433MHz)

After upgrading from v2.2.6 to v3.0 and doing a clean install, I can't restore settings from the web,
and get the following crash report on serial port:

Curiously, the same happens even after I reinstalled from scratch, using official web installer as well, even on the older firmware. Is it a case of broken hardware?
I only got the device working again by restoring full flash backup I had taken in the past.

sorry for this late answer... this was when uploading an old configuration json file to the newly updated board?

Correct. Settings also got lost by doing full upgrade without using backup file as an intermediary.
