Problem Statement

It's less efficient to replace the AppImage and add a desktop entry whenever this application receives an update.

Proposed Solution

A submission to https://aur.archlinux.org/ would improve efficiency in updating.

Use Case

Considering Nix and other stable release type distros have their own packages, I don't see why not Arch Linux deserves one, it's pretty widely used.

+1, this would also help handle the fuse2 dependency. My install didn't have it which in turn led the app failing to start.

As a temporary workaround, I started using gearlever as a way to manage AppImages. Waiting on dev's input for possible AUR package.

The current package support is a result of my being a Nix user and electron-builder creating the other artefacts. The AppImage is self-updating. ✨

Adding an AUR package requires extra work on my part, for a Linux distribution I don't use. I do publish some other projects directly to the AUR, but only because GoReleaser does the heavy lifting for me.

If I get the time and inclination, I'll investigate the AUR publishing options.
