Description
This issue is a bug report to notify the developers that Wire on Android cannot receive new messages on the latest version on F-Droid.
Problem
New messages do not arrive to my phone (Android). They do arrive to my computer (debian linux).
I am able to send messages from my phone (Android). Messages I send appear in both my phone and my computer. But incoming messages only appear on my computer.
I've cleared cache on the android app. It didn't help.
I cleared all data on the android app (which required me to login again and generated new keys). It didn't help.
Today I got an error in my chat, which might explain the problem.
You haven't updated this device for a while. In the meantime, the standard messaging protocol changed from Proteus to Messaging Layer Security (MLS). Due to this change, some messages may not appear here.
Note that I am running the latest version of Wire that's available on F-Droid = 4.18.0.
Why this matters
Please note that later this year, google is going to be making changes that will force many users to remove gapps on their devices.
This means that many users will soon not have access to Google Play, and more Wire users will be obtaining Wire from F-Droid.
Solution
Please make sure that the latest version of Wire (with MLS support) is available on F-Droid, so users without gapps can receive new messages from their friends and coworkers.
