I will accept this change as soon as I can fix the tests and merge the latest changes to main. The main branch won't work anymore due to recent breaking changes in HA

@alexwh I just tried to change the base of this PR to dev, so that I could get the fix in sooner, and I noticed some conflicts. This raises a question for me.

A while back, in the dev branch, I changed the import to

https://developers.home-assistant.io/blog/2024/10/31/core-config-moved/

Which does seem to be referenced in the HA docs.

Do you know which is more correct?

Sorry, it's been a while since I wrote this so I don't exactly remember, but I think I used the typing hint version since it wasn't actually used elsewhere. If the method in the link works for you, I think that's fine too.

The error log seems to be gone, but I don't have a smarter kettle to test with anymore - the lid broke a couple of months ago.

Oh no! What a bummer! Hopefully you live in UK or EU, because I recently learned that they stopped selling to the US and dropped NA plugs (that said, it's easy to change the plug yourself).

Mine is also starting to die. I recently had to replace the thermistor, and now it shows -73% full 😆
