Absolute Johannes factotum
- SCP-5982 (?)
- SCP-5982 was a spiritual commune in Big Sur, California, called Kucsoo, founded in the 1960s by a charismatic reality-bending leader known only as C.H. Jones or "Conehead." Jones used his powers to perform "miracles" and manipulate his followers, who included drifters and troubled individuals, eventually leading them to believe he was a messiah preparing them for a "Rapture." The Foundation, along with the FBI's Unusual Incidents Unit, investigated the commune due to reports of anomalous activities and illegal weapon stockpiling. During a raid, Jones and his most loyal followers mysteriously vanished in a flash of light, leaving behind only an undercover agent who had volunteered to be left behind to "spread the message," and who was also found to be pregnant with Jones's child. SCP-5982 is now considered neutralized as the commune and its leader no longer exist.
- Poole versus HAL 9000 (?)
- The article "Poole versus HAL 9000" describes a chess game featured in the film *2001: A Space Odyssey*, where astronaut Frank Poole plays against the supercomputer HAL 9000. This fictional game is based on a real 1910 match between Roesch and Schlage, specifically the conclusion of that game. In the film, HAL declares a checkmate path, leading Poole to resign, though chess experts note that Poole could have prolonged the game for a couple more moves beyond HAL's stated sequence. The portrayal of HAL's chess style has been interpreted as more "human" than a brute-force computer, as it involves a "nonoptimal" move that still outmaneuvers the human opponent.
