Installation Guide

Download Max:

Go to Cycling 74 and download the version for your operating system.

Open Max 8 Application so the support folders you need to place the support files generate in your Documents folder.

You may want to create an account for authorization Alt Text

Download Optron Mini Repo:

Find these 4 folders in MaxMSP > Library:

  • Loom2
  • MPG
  • Optron
  • soundLib

Drag above folders into the following folder on your computer:

(User) > Documents > Max 8 > Library Alt Text

Find the OptronMini folder in MaxMSP > Projects Drag OptronMini folder into:

(User) > Documents > Max 8 > Projects Alt Text

Download Java:

Make sure java is installed, especially if you are a windows user.

Download Java Virtual Machine (JDK):

Even if you installed Java above, you still need to do the following: In a google search, type in: "download oracle java" Click Java SE Downloads Look for Oracle JDK and click the JDK download link Choose the operating system that matches your computer and download. Direct Link Alt Text

Download the FTDI VCP drivers (virtual com port)

Don't download the D2xx drivers. You only need to download the VCP drivers. (make sure to download the executable version for your operating system) Alt Text

Download Link Tools:

  • From the Max 8 application, look for the menu item File > Show Package manager
  • Top right corner, type “link” in the search bar
  • Install Link by Cycling ‘74

reStart and reOpen Max 8:

  • Quit Max, you may need to restart your computer too.
  • Reopen Max8
