Summary of Changes

Hello, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request enhances the vLLM router's static backend health check functionality by making the health check interval and request timeout configurable. This provides greater operational control and flexibility for users to fine-tune how the router monitors the health of its static backends, allowing for better adaptation to varying deployment environments and model characteristics.

Highlights

  • Configurable Health Check Parameters: Introduced new command-line arguments (--static-backend-health-check-interval and --static-backend-health-check-timeout-seconds) to allow users to customize the interval and timeout for static backend health checks.
  • Dynamic Configuration Integration: Integrated the new health check interval and timeout parameters into the DynamicRouterConfig and ServiceDiscovery classes, ensuring they are properly passed and utilized throughout the router's health checking mechanism.
  • Robust Health Check Logic: Updated the is_model_healthy utility function to accept and use the configurable timeout, making the health checks more flexible and adaptable to different network conditions or model response times.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Code Review

This pull request introduces configurable static backend health check intervals and timeouts. New command-line arguments --static-backend-health-check-interval and --static-backend-health-check-timeout-seconds have been added, and these values are now used in the service discovery logic and the is_model_healthy utility function. The review comments highlight a maintainability concern regarding the hardcoded default values (60 for interval, 10 for timeout) which are duplicated across multiple files. It is recommended to define these defaults as constants in a central location, such as a constants.py file, to ensure consistency and improve maintainability.

LGTM from my side (I'm @max-wittig's teammate and we're looking to customize this for healthchecks on heavier models such as GLM-5). Obviuosly not a maintainer here though :)
